ManageManage is the main configuration page for VBS Overlay. It is used to prepare and adjust the behavior of the machine before or during live operation. While the Dashboard is used for monitoring, Manage is used for configuration. What Manage is used forManage centralizes the main VBS Overlay settings: Show Mode, Desk Lock, Sync, Desktop / System options, network settings, OSC, remote access, performance monitoring and admin access.Show ModeShow Mode groups the settings used to prepare a Windows machine for live operation. It can help reduce interruptions, lock down risky shortcuts and apply show-safe settings quickly. The Preflight area checks critical show points such as displays, scaling, network, power, sleep settings, admin access and OSC / Companion configuration.OverlayThe Overlay section enables or disables the VBS Overlay system overlay. It can display useful machine, network or system information directly on screen.Network Link scopeNetwork Link scope defines whether the machine acts as a Master for linked network actions. When a machine is Master, some actions can be sent to linked machines, such as Desk Lock, Sync and Desktop / System actions.Desk LockThe Desk Lock section configures operator locking.Desk Lock helps protect a live machine against accidental keyboard or mouse actions. It can be controlled from the interface, OSC, Companion or an Admin USB Key if configured.SyncThe Sync section manages synchronization workflows.Since VBS Overlay 1.4.1, Sync buttons use the internal VBS FileSync engine instead of external FreeFileSync jobs.Sync Repository launches FileSync jobs assigned to Repository.Sync Project/Composition launches FileSync jobs assigned to Project/Composition.Project/Composition can also use the backup relaunch workflow configured in Admin Access.Desktop / SystemDesktop / System contains live-operation Windows settings such as black desktop background, mouse limited to main display, alignment pattern, disabled Windows key, disabled Alt+Tab, UAC background handling, administrator launch, Windows Update control and taskbar options.GeneralGeneral defines the machine display name used in network workflows, monitoring and remote tools.Use clear names such as MEDIA-01, BACKUP-01, CONTROL or SERVER-A.DashboardThe Dashboard settings allow you to enable or disable performance monitoring and choose which GPU VBS Overlay should monitor.DisplaysThe Displays section contains display-related settings such as main display brightness when supported by the hardware.RemoteRemote contains remote-access options, including VNC Access and installation help.It is useful for machines placed in racks, backstage or technical areas.AdminAdmin gives access to protected settings. The admin access should be locked again after configuration to avoid accidental changes during live operation.Link configuration and NetworksLink configuration selects the network adapter used for VBS Overlay machine linking.Networks lets you filter physical adapters, virtual adapters and other adapters to keep the network view clean.OSCThe OSC section configures the UDP listening port used by Companion, Chataigne or other show-control tools. After changing the port, use Apply.Recommended useUse Manage during machine preparation, network setup, Show Mode configuration, Desk Lock configuration, VNC setup, OSC / Companion setup and multi-machine workflow preparation.Best practicesBefore a show, verify Show Mode, Desk Lock, Desktop / System options, selected network adapter, OSC port, VNC settings, admin access and Sync configuration.TroubleshootingIf a setting does not apply, check admin access, Windows administrator rights, Apply buttons, firewall rules and whether VBS Overlay needs to be restarted.Recommended imageUse a full Manage screenshot showing Show Mode, Desktop / System, General, Dashboard, Remote, Admin, Link configuration, Networks, OSC and About.
